UNIX Systems Administrator
$80-$110K
Be involved with all aspects of open systems
support and management. This includes platform
wide and individual planning, configuration,
support, management, optimizing and troubleshooting.
The individual will be responsible for providing
both primary operations support as well as enhancing
and maintaining administration and infrastructure.
This position works within a team of UNIX Administrators
which provide non-stop, high-performance, high-availability
and low latency trading systems.
Work closely with members of Network operations,
Development, and Applications Support personnel
in a fast-paced team-oriented environment. This
position is based in Chicago and is responsible
for systems in Chicago, New York and London
data centers.
Responsibilities:
-Daily monitoring and maintenance of over 350
UNIX servers.
-Administer/configure monitoring platforms to
ensure optimal performance and alerting capabilities.
-Test and apply new software and maintenance
patches, including patch management services.
-Work with development staff to troubleshoot
or improve trading systems software.
-Complete security audits on a routine basis.
-Administrative scripting with Perl, Python
and shell-scripting.
-Provide direct customer support.
-Perform other job-related duties as required.
Qualifications:
-5+ years Linux Server administration experience.
-System performance analysis and tuning experience.
-High Availability and failover scenarios, load
balanced environments.
-Software experience with Apache, PHP, postfix,
LDAP, Radius, bind, ssh, Kerberos, etc.
-Automation via scripting (Perl, Python, shell
scripting, etc.)
-File system and storage management, including
file replication, file system tuning, recovery,
upgrading and configuring.
-Red Hat Certification Engineering experience
preferred.
-Experience with financial industry application
and environments preferred.
-Ability to gather requirements, design and
implement appropriate solutions.
-Strong process oriented experience in terms
of implementation and completion.
-Familiarity with databases and basic web development.
-General UNIX troubleshooting.
-Disaster Recovery.
-Ability to work well with customers in a cross-team
environment.
-Ability and willingness to mentor within one’s
own team a well as other teams.
-Self-motivated with the ability to follow directions,
complete time-sensitive tasks, and meet deadlines
with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, high-stress
environment.
-Strong planning and organizational skills,
with the ability to document processes and procedures.
-BS or BA degree in Computer Science or related
field required.
