Software Development Manager

Up to 20% travel.

MUST have experience with SDLC, specifically with Agile. MUST have at least 2 years of experience managing teams within .NET and Microsoft environments. Experience managing domestic and international teams is a plus.

Responsibilities:
-Responsible for the development of software solutions, software integration of COTS software packages and support of the organization’s software maintenance activities.
-Work closely with other members of the software development team, project management and other development management teams to ensure that projects are executed with a high level of technical excellence; with demonstrable functional and technical quality; and within allotted timeframes.
-Responsible for a diverse group of software engineers, spanning multiple technologies and solution domains.
-Responsible and be familiar with the overall state of each ongoing project, allocating development resources to the projects appropriately, supporting the development planning process with estimates of effort and ensuring that the leadership is kept informed about all project activities.
-Support resource allocation and effort estimates for the development team.
-Collaborate with Analysts, Team Leaders, Software Engineers and Project Managers to ensure that the delivered software meets the business objectives of the project and is developed in accordance to the organization’s architectural and code standards.
-Lead the development and implementation of new systems and features within existing systems based on functional requirements, use cases, and screen designs.
-Identify issues in the technical design that will lead to quality or system performance issues in product
-Lead multiple development projects of different scopes and sizes, as well as deployed using different technologies.
-Assist with the troubleshooting and resolution of escalated customer support issues
-Create documentation required as part of the software development process.
-Perform periodic reviews of the team’s code to ensure quality and consistency.
-Support the ongoing professional development plans of the development team members.

Qualifications:
-MUST have experience with SDLC, specifically with Agile.
-MUST have at least 2 years of experience managing teams within .NET and Microsoft environments.
-Experience managing domestic and international teams is a plus.
-10+ Years development experience in a professional software development environment
-Minimum of 2 years previous people management experience; proven ability to lead and motivate people, set targets and monitor achievements of a team.
-Robust interpersonal skills and a talent for influencing, with substantial evidence of leadership, teamwork, and collaboration.
-Proven ability to drive continuous self-development and staff-development
-Strong commitment to using the software development process as a tool to rapidly deliver value to the business.
-Experience working with geographically dispersed teams spanning the globe.
-Ability to analyze requirements and translate them into a design.
-Ability to guide small to mid-size teams participating in multiple ongoing projects.
-In depth coding experience with either C# or Java, with experience working with both platforms.
-Strong experience with XML web services (SOAP).
-Experience with MS-SQL server, Oracle and other relational database platforms.
-Experience with XSL/XSLT.
-Experience with .NET
-Experience with relational database concepts, including entity modeling, table design, keys, indexes, views, stored procedures.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Understanding of SDLC, specifically with experience working in an Agile development methodology
-A high level of self motivation, with the ability to work in team environment.
-Degree in computer science or other related technical degree preferred but will consider applicants with equivalent work-related experience with a minimum educational requirement of a H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
-Domain knowledge of IT Infrastructure and / or IT Service Management concepts
-Experience working in both a software product development capacity and an enterprise system environment.
