The Vice President of Technology Product Development serves as a key leader within the CTO’s organization, heading up the Product Development & Engineering team which is responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and transition to Operations of newly developed products and service solutions. This individual will be responsible for Company's Operational tools strategy and the oversight of key facets of those tools; the oversight of the Product Development Life Cycle, communication and project status; project risks and mitigation strategies; and project dependencies to both the CTO organization and broader leadership team and project stakeholders.

The VP will be responsible for all software and infrastructure development projects germane to the Company portfolio. The portfolio entails all Recovery Services, Advanced Recovery, Managed Services, and associated portal initiatives. Ensuring that those projects are executed with a high level of technical excellence; with demonstrable functional and technical quality; and within allotted timeframes and costs. In the course of executing these projects, the VP is responsible for working closely with other members of the development teams, senior management, and project stakeholders from other departments.

The position requires the person to utilize their advanced level of knowledge around development methodologies and technologies. The position will require exposure to development platforms and approaches, including: Java, .Net, web solutions; multiple RDBMS environments; various application and security technologies; network, platforms, monitoring and management systems. The individual must possess a high degree of technical and management knowledge of various storage, systems, and network technologies.

The VP will participate in and oversee architectural decision, technology due diligence and selection, standards setting, developing processes for the various Operational Management technical platforms, and be involved in research into new technologies and platforms pertinent to the Managed Services and Recovery businesses of Availability Services.

Responsibilities:
-Act as the lead for strategic (roadmap) development activities
-On-going departmental management activities
-Participate in analysis activities
-Participate in platform-level architectural decisions

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
-MS in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience required.
-12-15 yrs experience in software development, infrastructure integration & product development, preferably w/ a combination of on-shore & low cost/offshore teams.
-Experienced in one or more of the following: Disaster Recovery, High Availability, Infrastructure Monitoring & Management & IT Outsourcing.

Tools & Methodologies:
-Experience w/ Agile development methodology or other relevant development methodologies. Definition of tools, standards & methods for SDLC/Product Development Lifecycle (requirements management, development, integration, through to testing & deployment). Experienced w/ industry standards such as ITIL, CoBIT, and CMM.

Advanced Engineering & Architecture:
-Experience w/ working on emerging technologies, advanced engineering/early-R&D, establishing standards & architecture& maintaining technology roadmaps.

Management Skills:
-Excellent written & verbal communication skills & management ability to build, motivate, & lead a development & engineering organization. Ability to multi-task in a highly technical, fast paced environment. Experience with Quality control, budget & timeline management.

Infrastructure:
-Experience in leading development & integration initiatives in the areas of replication, monitoring, & management/automation of infrastructure w/ the following platforms covering multiple layers of the OSI stack, Oracle & MSSQL databases, storage, network from layer 1 to layer 3, etc. covering both the provision & ongoing maintenance & monitoring.

Software:
-Experience in leading development & integration of software initiatives w/ technologies including both .NET, & J2EE, using standards including SOAP, XML, REST, etc., & Web 2.0, AJAX methods.

Maintenance:
-Experience in quality standards for maintenance should include experience w/ both, best practices around version control, & release management. Candidates should have a thorough understanding of the necessary elements in software & hardware solutions life cycle management.

Preferred Requirements:
-Experience w/ management tools, such as NetCool, Opsware or other similar management platforms
-Experience working w/ monitoring & management processes & procedures of a call center or management organization
-Experience w/ IT operations preferably within a enterprise scale data center or development for a outsourcer
-Broad & sufficiently deep technology background
-Experience w/ the Managed and Recovery Services business
